what is one of your successful moments?
I would have to say our biggest success story is just being able to make enough to keep the studio open – all the owners and instructors have full time jobs in addition to managing/teaching at the studio. It is our passion for yoga that motivates us to keep the studio going!! Plattsburgh is a small city, rent is high and local incomes are not high.
One of the local High School Hockey teams is having the boys practice once a week for 90 minutes, I teach a combo class using some of the traditional Hot postures as well as various other stretching postures for them. The Hockey Coach came to us because he had done a lot of research on Hot Yoga and is hoping to improve the team’s flexibility and to prevent injuries. I am hoping this works well and more teams start utilizing the studio.
why did you join the evolation collective?
The majority of our instructors are Evolation Certified. It is great being a part of the Evolation Family. Being part of the family keeps us up to date on the teacher training and updates in the yoga community.
what changes have you made since opening?
Since we took over the studio we added a variety of classes in addition to the Hot 26 Postures. Hot Vinyasa Flow, Hot Pilates, Warm PiYo, Hot Flow, Warm Flow, Hot Resist-a-Ball (using Swiss Exercise Balls), we also offer a Belly Dancing Class one day a week. The other changes are aesthetic.
what are your most successful classes and why do you think they are?
Our most successful classes are Hot Vinyasa Flow, Hot Pilates and Hot Resist-a-Ball. I think because they offer more of a variety than the traditional Hot 26.
what is the inspiration/story behind the name of your yoga studio?
The name of the studio came about because we wanted to empower individuals to believe in themselves and take their fitness to a new level via the Hot 26, the fitness comes from my personal background as a Trainer/Coach and we offer that service through the studio as well.
