why did you join the evolation collective?
I heard that evolation trainings have smaller numbers giving students more opportunities to learn not only dialogue but to look at bodies and have a better understanding of anatomy and general alignment in postures. I understand evolation makes you feel welcome and part of a community.
what changes have you made since opening?
We have added 60min hot 26+2 classes, yin ,power yoga and kids classes, we believe every yoga style has something to offer, you just have to find the one that resonates with you. I also think all styles compliment each other.
what are your most successful classes and why?
I wouldn’t say any class is more popular, we have great numbers for all classes, although the 60min classes in our busy lifestyles are popular. Our busiest class is our Friday afternoon $5 Power vinyasa class.
what advice/tips would you give to someone thinking of opening a yoga studio?
It’s great to have the yogi mind and believe how great having your own studio would be but make sure you look at it as a business, factor all your costs in and how many students you need to break even, be prepared to teach every class at the start to keep costs down. Know your students name and make them feel welcome, create a community. Make you studio feel welcoming, create a vibe, incense music make it visually inviting. Lastly marketing, my partner Belinda is awesome at marketing, social media Facebook Instagram get on it
what is the inspiration/story behind the name of your yoga studio?
Well, we used to be called Bikram yoga Gosford but after all the drama surrounding him we changed our name to evolve which has the same amount of letters as bikram so it would fit in with our signage. Evolve seemed appropriate as we were moving on from the bikram name and we wanted to add other styles of yoga. To evolve is to grow, adapt and that’s what I think yoga is all about and life really.
